SALES ASSOCIATE POSITION


Primary Objectives: The Sales Associate will be responsible for identifying, qualifying and capturing new and existing opportunities for selling Montgomery County Music Center’s retail store merchandise and associated services to individuals, groups, schools and churches. The individual will follow up on leads, conduct warm prospecting, qualify opportunities on the showroom floor, on the phone, schedule and perform product demonstrations and be responsible for closing opportunities through person to person selling.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

 
  • Operating a retail store resulting in qualified leads and revenue generation against stated activity and revenue goals.
  • Qualify sales leads generated by phone, Internet marketing, in-store demonstrations, seminars, networking groups, association memberships, industry and target account lists.
  • Proactively develop potential sales leads through outbound calling to existing customer database.
  • Effectively utilize sales process methodology and proper questioning to identify and capture potential opportunities.
  • Document and track all activity through sales force automation tools including detailed activity reports, setting tasks for follow-up and tracking.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and understanding of product and potential impacts of new and competing technologies.
  • Prepare and send appropriate follow-up, marketing and collateral materials via mail and email to prospective clients.
  • Provide marketing support at networking events, demonstrations and sales calls as needed.
Education and experience
 
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Prefer 1 year or more of retail sales experience in a showroom environment.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to develop a professional rapport, overcome objections and persuade while maintaining a dynamic and professional demeanor.
  • Must be highly motivated, possess positive attitude and have excellent organizational skills.
  • Willingness to work independently with results orientated work ethic.
  • Knowledge of the Music Instrument industry with general focus on the Band and Orchestra market.
  • Knowledge of computer recording and networking a plus.
  • Travel as required (Seasonal).
