♪ Does my Rent-To-Own Agreement include accessories?

Yes, each instrument includes some basic free accessories. However, some of the music directors require additional accessories and a method book which must be purchased.  Orchestra instruments will be strung and include a bow, polish cloth and rosin. Band instruments will include the required mouthpiece, mouthpiece cap, basic ligature, and cork grease or oil as applicable.

♪ How does the maintenance program function?

The Music Center’s repair center is the only repair center authorized to complete repairs on this instrument while it is under contract. Our repair center will maintain the instrument in playing condition at no additional charge, provided the damage is not willful or due to negligence. Simply drop the instrument off in our store to obtain a work order receipt stub. Generally, repairs will be completed within 10 days and you will be notified when the repairs have been completed. In some cases, The Music Center may be able to provide the student a loaner instrument while their instrument is being repaired depending upon inventory availability.  However, it is always best to ensure your child will not need the instrument for class or performance during the time the instrument is being repaired. The maintenance program coverage automatically cancels if your account becomes past due. However, it may be re-instated by bringing your account to a current status. Maintenance coverage does not cover expendable items such as mouthpieces, ligatures, drum sticks, etc.

♪ Is my Rent-To-Own instrument insured?

Yes, if you have elected the option of paying the maintenance/replacement fee within your agreement. Our standard Rent-To-Own agreement includes Fire/Theft replacement with a payment of a $25.00 deductible prior to processing a claim. A notarized Police report is also required within 14 days of the incident. The replacement coverage automatically cancels if your account becomes past due. However, it may be re-instated by bringing your account to a current status. (Reinstatement is not effective if a loss has occurred during the time the account was past due.) Maintenance/replacement coverage does not cover expendable items such as mouthpieces, ligatures, drum sticks, etc. if lost in a separate incident from the instrument.

♪ What if my student no longer wants to participate in a music program?

The Music Center’s Rent-To-Own agreement is semester-friendly and may be canceled at any time after the 4 month minimum period is met as long as the monthly payments are current. The instrument and all accessories must be returned to the Music Center for the agreement to be canceled.

♪ Do I own this instrument?

Once we have posted the final payment, as denoted within your agreement, you own the instrument. You also have the option to pay off the instrument at any time based upon the principal amount owed plus sales tax.

♪ What if my student changes instruments or outgrows the instrument?

Orchestra instruments are sized. As the student grows the student may need larger sizes throughout the contract term. The Music Center will upsize Orchestra instruments as your student grows, and will transfer the principal portion of the payments you have paid to the new contract. In the case of Band instruments, the principal paid cannot be applied to a different type of instrument. If you would like to upgrade your students’ instrument, (example: used to new or from a student line to an intermediate line), the principal paid may be applied to the new Rent-To-Own or purchase. However, in rare cases, a band director may request a student change instruments. In these cases, The Music Center will apply the principal paid to a new Rent-To-Own contract.

♪ May I make monthly payments with a credit card or have my checking account debited?

Monthly rental payments may be made with cash/check/credit card in our store. You may also request a payment coupon book for mailed payments. ♪ How do I care for the instrument?

Cleaning the instrument (inside and out) after each use is highly recommended. Basic care kits designed for each specific band instrument are available for purchase; polish cloths for the outside (to remove body oils left behind by fingers) and other cleaning tools for the inside. Orchestra instruments should be polished after each use to maintain the finish and to remove body oils left behind by the fingers. Instruments, mouthpieces, and orchestra bows are fragile. Special care should be taken to eliminate dents, scratches, scrapes, and other damage. Instruments, mouthpieces, and orchestra bows should be stored in their case whenever not in use.
